Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido Road, circa 1838 - Kunisada's interesting circa 1838 Tokaido Road series features backgrounds for each station taken from Hiroshige's First or Great Tokaido. The foregrounds show a beauty taking part in activities from daily life, with a border of clouds separating the figure from the landscape beyond. An intriguing combination and a rarely seen earlier Kunisada series.

Image Size - 9 3/8" x 7 1/4"
