Original Hiroshige II (1826 - 1869) Japanese Woodblock Print
Pilgrims to Mt. Minobu and New Ohashi Bridge, 1863

Comments - Terrific view of a festival procession along the Sumida River in the early morning as pilgrims make their way to the temple at Mt. Minobu. Groups of men in matching robes move through the street amidst decorations or floats with figures and red lanterns atop tall wooden poles. The line of worshippers stretches back across the New Ohashi (Shin-Ohashi) Bridge into the distance, the colorful floats towering above them against the dark sky. Customers at the teahouses along the water's edge pause to watch the parade pass by. A fantastic image with wonderful detail and bokashi shading in the water.

Artist - Hiroshige II (1826 - 1869)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 28 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with paper. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases and slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
