Series; Collection of Battling Heroes

Locked in Battle with a Dying Opponent, 1847 - 1852 - Dramatic scene of a samurai locked in battle with an opponent, the pair wrestling on the ground. The warrior on the top grabs his enemy by the check and throat, but his own face is turning blue, a sign of his impending death. An incredible design with beautiful color and terrific detail. We've never come across designs by this artist before.

Artist - Ichirentei Kansai (active circa 1848 - 1854)

Image Size - 13 5/8" x 9 3/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Stitching holes at right edge, a few wormholes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
