Yanone (The Arrowhead)

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait from the play "Yanone" (The Arrowhead), one of the Eighteen Kabuki Plays made famous by the Ichikawa Danjuro line of actors. Here, a sparrow sharpens a forked arrowhead called a karimata against a whetstone resting in a tub of water, grimacing angrily as he looks over his shoulder. Stands behind him hold additional arrows. A nice old reprint with the appearance of an original
