Ono no Komachi by Kiyochika (1847 - 1915)

Original Kiyochika (1847 - 1915) Japanese Woodblock Print
Ono no Komachi

Comments - Lovely spring image of the Heian era poet and courtier Ono no Komachi and her two attendants on a hill overlooking Kiyomizu Temple. The landscape is covered with pale pink and white blossoming cherry trees, providing a beautiful setting. The beauty wears a sheer kimono over her head, which she lifts above her eyes, and a red floral kimono over an under robe with a spider web pattern. The youngest attendant carries a black lacquer box, while the older girl carries a package wrapped in fine cloth. Blossoming cherry trees fill the landscape. A terrific image with a striking composition.

Artist - Kiyochika (1847 - 1915)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 28 1/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Slight toning, a few creases and small spots. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
