Hiroshige (1797 - 1858) Japanese Woodblock Reprint
New Fuji, Meguro

Series; One Hundred Famous Views of Edo

One Famous Views of Edo - In 1856, Hiroshige began designing what was to be his last great series and a masterpiece, "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo." Each print from this series was a classic Hiroshige landscape work, taking advantage of the vertical format to capture a slice of life from Edo in dramatic and interesting ways. The series was very popular with the public and new releases were eagerly anticipated over the time that Hiroshige released the designs. Beautifully colored and finely printed, our prints from this series are a nice opportunity to collect these 19th century landscape images.

Takamizawa Reprints - Handsome reprint by the venerable Takamizawa publisher. Takamizawa was known as one of the finest reprint publishers of the 20th century, and produced some of the highest quality ukiyo-e woodblock reprints of all time. A great opportunity to acquire a fine reprint of a classic ukiyo-e design.

New Fuji, Meguro - Terrific image of a miniature replica of Mt. Fuji built to provide an opportunity for anyone to climb Fuji. This mini-Fuji also provides a spectacular view of the real Mt. Fuji. A few visitors climb the switchback path up the mound, while others relax below, strolling beneath the blossoming cherry trees along the river or taking a break at the tea stand at lower left. Beautiful bokashi shading in this historically fascinating subject.
