Takamizawa Reprints - Handsome reprint by the venerable Takamizawa publisher. Takamizawa was known as one of the finest reprint publishers of the 20th century, and produced some of the highest quality ukiyo-e woodblock reprints of all time. All prints bear the red or brown "Takamizawa" seal on the reverse attesting to the Takamizawa publication of these prints. A great opportunity to acquire a fine reprint of a classic ukiyo-e design.
Comments - Beautiful portrait of the young geisha Kamekichi, who worked in the Sode-ga-ura district in Edo, which is pictured in the small landscape inset at upper right. She looks over her shoulder rather wistfully, clasping her hands before her. Beautiful fine line work in the hairline. A lovely, classic Utamaro beauty subject with a wonderful facial expression.
