Winter, 1861 by Fusatane (active circa 1850 - 1870)

Original Fusatane (active circa 1850 - 1870) Japanese Woodblock Print
Winter, 1861

Series; The Four Seasons of Genji

Winter, 1861 - Charming scene of Prince Genji relaxing on a winter day, his feet tucked beneath a kotatsu, a wooden frame over a brazier covered with a quilt to keep in the warmth. He grins as a young girl presents a snow rabbit on a tray to him, the ears made of leaves. At left, two younger children dressed in matching kimono carry a large chunk of ice or snow tied to a bamboo pole. The beauty behind them wears a yellow robe patterned with irises, blowing on her fingers to warm them. At top center, the pink buds of a plum tree peek through a layer of snow, the tree framing a view of a garden pond. An attractive design.

Artist - Fusatane (active circa 1850 - 1870)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 28 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Slight soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
