Rooster, Morning Glories, and Umbrella by Hiroshige (1797 - 1858)

Hiroshige (1797 - 1858) Japanese Woodblock Reprint
Rooster, Morning Glories, and Umbrella

Oedo Mokuhansha - These classic designs were produced by the well known Tokyo publisher Oedo Mokuhansha amidst a resurgence of interest in ukiyo-e in the early 1950s. Like many of these traditional businesses, the woodblock print craft was passed down through generations, and the Oedo Mokuhansha company was formed by descendents of an Edo era publisher. These are nice prints of the highest quality standards and an excellent choice if you are looking for fine old woodblock reprints.

Comments - A wonderful Hiroshige birds and flowers print depicting a rooster with summer blossoming morning glories and an umbrella outside to dry. Nice Hiroshige pillar print, this unusual format making an eye-catching display. A great choice for a display with fine embossed detail in the feathers and soft shading in the background.

Artist - Hiroshige (1797 - 1858)

Image Size - 14 5/8" x 6 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight paper remnants and thinning on reverse at left edge from original publisher mounting. Slight curling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
