Original Kunimori II (active circa 1840 - 1860) Japanese Woodblock Print
Evening Entertainment, 1855

Comments - Attractive scene of beauties enjoying an evening of entertainment. At left, a seated beauty with a shamisen resting across her lap holds several pages of a letter. At right, a kneeling courtesan uses a hairpin to open a letter brought to her on a lacquer tray by a young girl. Through the round window in the center, a boy claps a wooden noisemaker, while a girl climbs onto a window seat overlooking the water, where ships are anchored for the night. Wonderful detail in the interior setting and view of the ocean. A handsome Edo era beauty subject.

Artist - Kunimori II (active circa 1840 - 1860)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 29 1/2" + margins as shown
